In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Kolkata on May 2nd and 3rd, Kolkata Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive advisory outlining traffic restrictions and route diversions to ensure smooth vehicular movement and security arrangements during the VVIP visit.
The restricted/diverted areas include: Ultadanga Flyover, EM Bypass, Maa Flyover, AJC Bose Flyover, Hospital Road Lovers Lane, Kidderpore Road, Jenson & Nicholson Island, Red Road, R.R. Avenue, Raj Bhavan (South) Gate, and 11 Furlong Gate.
The advisory, issued by the Kolkata Police Commissioner, details the restrictions on vehicle movement and parking in the city during the specified period. Notably, all types of goods vehicles will face restrictions from 6:40 PM on May 2nd until 11:00 PM on the same day. Additional traffic restrictions will be enforced on May 3rd, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Kolkata Traffic Police will exercise stringent control over vehicle movement and parking along the designated routes. Additionally, other vehicles, including trams, may be subject to diversion or restriction as directed by traffic authorities to ensure the smooth execution of the security protocol.
